Your first bridal fitting: what to bring

From shoes and inspiration photos to questions worth noting: a thoughtful checklist for your first bridal appointment.

You do not need every answer in advance

Think of your first appointment as a chance to explore what feels like you, not a test with an instant answer. A dress you love in a photograph may feel different when worn. Bring a few clear preferences and an open mind, and take time to notice shape, fabric and ease of movement.

Check the details before you visit

Before visiting, ask about a suitable time, whether the styles you want can be tried on and any arrangements for guests. Note your event date and intended dress budget. Confirm availability, costs and preparation times directly with the gallery; this guide does not confirm stock or a booking.

Shoes and undergarments: keep them practical

Bring your wedding shoes if you already have them, or a clean pair with a similar heel height to help visualise the proportions. Check with the gallery before wearing them in the fitting area. Choose discreet, simple undergarments and clothes that are easy to change. Wait before buying shapewear or accessories: each dress may need something different.

Bring a small, focused inspiration edit

A few photographs of necklines, sleeves, skirts or details you like are enough. Note what attracts you in each: simplicity, lace texture, a waistline or freedom of movement. This turns the conversation towards your priorities rather than a model name, without creating an expectation of an exact copy.

Look beyond the mirror

With the fitting assistant's permission, walk a few steps, sit down and gently move your arms. Notice the neckline, sleeves and waist, and mention any pressure or restriction. If photography is allowed, take a few useful views and note your own reaction immediately. A photograph cannot replace how a dress actually feels.

Questions to ask before deciding

Ask about available sizing, whether alterations are possible and their limits, the total cost, preparation time and payment terms. Important details should be clear and preferably written down. If you are unsure, ask for time to compare. A considered choice should feel calm, not rushed.

Your quick pre-visit checklist

Visit arrangements checked; event date and budget noted; a few inspiration photos selected; practical shoes and easy-to-change clothes ready; questions written down. These simple steps are enough to begin a more focused conversation. Explore our bridal page and contact the gallery to discuss styles and a visit.
